The CU Series—CU1500 Turret Winder is primarily used for high-speed winding of vellum, papers, and polyester reproductive films with a thickness range from 2 mils through 5 mils. The rear-mounted unwind assembly includes full lateral travel of headstock and tailstock to accommodate various roll widths and positions within the web area. The manually controlled, pneumatically actuated tailstock engages the standard tapered cone style chucks into 3” and 6” diameter cores of the master roll. The CU1500 Turret Winder web tension is controlled by a constant pressure is supplied to the pneumatic unwind brakes with the help of an air regulator and pressure gauge. The intermediate web guide roller provides web support and wrinkle removal, preparing the web for the slitting station. The CU1500 Turret Winder can be equipped with rotary shear-, score-, razor-slitting stations. The web is rewound on fiber cores over the button-type air expanding rewind shaft. Flange-mounted dual simplex rewind shafts provide ease of change to other desired sizes. At the end of the rewind cycle, the stopped air shaft automatically deflates, and the outboard support swings open for removal of the finished rolls from the cantilevered rewind shaft. The second shaft is rewinding while the operator removes the finished rolls and places new cores on the stopped shaft and prepares it for taping the slit ends to the cores. The simplex rewind shaft rotation is reversible.
